So, how does she do it? Have you ever wondered this about the hostess that seems cool as a cucumber while throwing a dinner party that would send you packing? Well, she has some secrets, and...here they are.

1) How to Prepare a Guest List for a Party
|
|

The guest list is of utmost importance. If you want to throw a great party, your guests should have something in common. Think of inviting friends and coworkers that will mingle well together, that share similar interests, that have similar backgrounds. This is key to having a lively atmosphere at your event.

2) What Are Pre-Dinner Drinks?
|

Serving a cocktail before dinner is a courtesy to guests but it also serves a purpose. Known as an aperitif, the before dinner drink prepares the guest for the delicious dinner you are about to serve.
.
We recommend serving a favorite cocktail for pre-dinner drinks, the classic Moscow Mule. The ginger beer in this famous cocktail will stimulate the appetite before the scrumptious meal. For a dash of elegance, make sure to serve it in our Urban Vintage LA copper mugs and pair it with seafood hors d’oeuvres or other light snacks.
3) Good Topics for a Dinner Party

You are the moderator. One of your duties as a host/hostess, apart from cocktails and dinner, is to moderate the conversation. If guests are starting a debate or if they are engaging in unpleasant gossip, it is your duty to find a way to change the subject. Doing it tactfully, of course!
.
As previously discussed, stick to topics such as recent movies, favorite new restaurants, new music and other non-controversial topics.
4) How to Make People Feel Welcome
.
The most valuable gift you can give your guests is the feeling of being welcome in your home. Make them feel welcome by being relaxed and attentive.
|
|
5) Enjoying Your Own Party
Don’t forget to have fun. Fun is the reason you are having the dinner party in the first place. Enjoy yourself, you deserve it after all the work you’ve done for the noble cause of bringing people together for a night of fun and great conversation.
.
From us at Urban Vintage LA, we hope these tips will help you be the most prepared hostess, something that guests will surely appreciate!
